How does Sling Shot transfer work?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

No matter where in the world you are trying to send and receive large files, our team is here to coordinate every step of the way. For most clients, we'll set up a simple drive drop off — either at our LA or NYC hub, or with one of our 300+ trusted partner locations worldwide. From there, we get to work immediately, copying all of the delivered files and pushing them to wherever they need to go. Typically, our clients will drop off footage at the end of a shoot day, but we work with every client individually to figure out what best suits their needs.

    How does Clip Cloud work?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Clip Cloud is camera raw hosting for post teams. Drop your camera-master drives with us and we bring them online — the same day — so your whole post team pulls from one source: color, VFX, finishing, editorial. $950 per drive includes up to 6 TB and 30 days of full access with no download meter. After day 30 it rolls to long-term cloud storage. See Cloud Services for full rates.

How do you deliver the dailies to the post house / agency?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

There are two ways for us to get your dailies to you: 1) Digital delivery — we host the dailies and deliver the footage directly to the post house / agency's machines, or send a secure LINK for them to pull from. We take care of the entire transfer process — the footage will be waiting for whoever needs to receive it. 2) Hard drive delivery — we offload the dailies onto a loaner hard drive and hand deliver it on the requested date and time.

How long does it take to transfer?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Speed is kind of our thing, so expect to be impressed by our turn around times. Each project is a little bit different, so transfer times may vary. The two biggest influences on timing are the size of the files and the speed of the recipient’s internet connection. Give us a call if you’d like a more specific estimate!

    Where are your offices?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

We run our own hubs in Los Angeles and New York City (please see LOCATIONS), backed by a network of 300+ trusted partner locations across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. If you're shooting somewhere we don't have a hub, we almost certainly have a partner nearby — and if we don't, we'll set one up.

Do I need to make an appointment?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Yes! Give us a call with the details of your project! We can also be reached on e-mail at producers@slingshotnyc.tv. After you contact us, we’ll get back to you with a quote for our services. Once the project is officially booked via signed and approved contract, it is subject to our cancellation policy.

What can be done if you don’t have an office in the city I’m shooting in?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Give us a ring! We have an extensive global network of trusted partners, and we will do our best to provide a drop-off location as close to you as possible. Or, depending on the project, we can set up a pop-up hub in your city. We recommend giving us as much advance notice as possible so we can work out the best solution.

Do you have a rate card? How much does your service cost?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

We do all sorts of projects in hundreds of cities around the world, so our services don't exactly fit on a standard rate card. Curious about costs? Reach out! We'll send you a personalized quote covering transfers, transcoding, and cloud hosting for a better project cost estimate.

  • 13.

How do your rates work? Do you charge per GB, per transfer, or per shoot day?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

All of the above! For transcoding, we charge per shoot day, per transfer, per location, and per GB (after exceeding a set amount). The best way to get a sense of our pricing is to contact us — we'll break it all down for you. LINK is a monthly or annual subscription. Clip Cloud is priced per drive, with long-term storage billed monthly after the first 30 days.

How fast does my internet need to be?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

The faster, the better. But there is no minimum requirement for internet speed to receive footage digitally. Please keep in mind that internet speed will influence your download time. If your internet speed isn't winning any races, we can always deliver a shuttle drive to where it needs to go — from our LA and NYC hubs, or through our partner network worldwide.

    Can you transfer any files?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

You bet! We’ll transfer anything for you. We mostly work with transcoded dailies and RAW footage.

  • 16.

Is there a limit to how much I can transfer?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Nope! There is no limit to how much data can be transferred, but some locations may apply a data fee after a certain threshold is reached. If you’re curious about a city’s data rate, don’t hesitate to ask us!

How do I get my production drive back?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Need a quick turn around? For most projects, we can hand your production drive back to you on the same night it’s delivered, just allow us ten to fifteen minutes after drop off to do our thing. Otherwise, please email us at producers@slingshotnyc.tv to arrange a pick-up for an additional fee. Want us to ship your drive back to you? No problem, just provide an address. This plan should work for most cities and is subject to shipping and handling fees.

How long do you keep files on your server?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Unless otherwise requested, we'll hold your material on our servers for 30 days. Need it live longer? Clip Cloud keeps your camera masters online and rolls to long-term cloud storage after the first 30 days — reach out and we'll set it up.

How does our transcoding service work?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Our transcoding service – the process of decoding, reformatting, and re-encoding files. We ask our clients to provide us with their transcode specs, shooting specs, and RAW. After the transcoding process is complete, we’ll deliver the transcoded files to wherever they need to go!

Can you pick up drives from a location or do they always need to be dropped off?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

We’re happy to pick-up hard drives from most locations for an additional fee.

  • 21.

How do you manage security and privacy?

    irridescent color semi-transparent bubble

Our digital security is top notch. Transfers are encrypted with AES-256 end to end, with no third parties between our network of private servers — AES-128 is also available where a client's workflow calls for it. We can provide password-protected encrypted hard drives on request. Our locations are as secure as our servers. All of our facilities are equipped with multiple security cameras, 24/7 security, keycard staff access, and locked security cabinets for drives and hardware.
